This 2006 watercolor interprets the natural landscape through a rarefied and ethereal lens. True to its title, the work exploits an extreme dilution of color to dematerialize volumes, returning a suspended and silent view.
The composition is articulated on fluid horizontal bands, dominated by cold and delicate tones such as lilac, wisteria, and powder blue. Soft earth-colored fields alternate with spaces of unpainted paper and very light washes suggesting valley mists or water reflections. Small and isolated dark hints, like the stylized silhouettes of cypresses, provide a discreet visual anchor point within the abstraction.
