This 1998 Watercolor returns the enveloping power of a sandstorm in the Egyptian landscape. The work pivots on the progressive cancellation of visibility and the dissolution of forms, capturing the material density of an atmosphere saturated by wind and mineral dust.
The composition is governed by a warm and compact chromatic structure, modulated on shades of golden ochre, sand, Siena earth, and burnt brown. From the diffuse brightness of the storm barely emerge the massive profiles of the rocky reliefs in the center, anchored to the paper by dark glazes and fluid vertical drips that accommodate the unstable and suspended motion of the storm.
